Nooo I’m not trying to supplant Cartwright’s biography. That’s an important book and contains more details than mine (although I include some stuff he leaves out too). But my book is definitely meant to appeal to a wider audience than Cartwright, as well as being more compact.

That’s right - the other book is an academic collection of chapters written by nearly 40 Schopenhauer scholars. This new book is a single-author work, biographical, and aimed at a wide audience - so hopefully it’s enjoyable as well as informative
