Luck on my side - next train was 15 minutes away = black sky. Whenever I go for ‘night’ captures, I try, if possible to get some residual light in the sky. The window of opportunity is surprisingly short!

As I understand it, Bede was brought by his parents to the monastery of Monkwearmouth first, by his family, where he was tutored under Benedict Biscop and later by Ceolfrith. He would later transfer to Jarrow after it was founded in AD682.
