Before the midterms of 1866, President Andrew Johnson called his congressional opponents traitors and said they should be hanged.

Voters were so profoundly moved by his words... that they gave his opponents a supermajority in Congress, and the nation got the Fourteenth Amendment.

The “media” asks questions. They are often not answered or answered with lies. @reallyamerican.bsky.social, perhaps you should speak with the voters.

In the category of phrasing matters, I’ll correct this for the @washingtonpost.com and @jacobbogage.bsky.social:

“… after Democrats AND Republicans failed to reach a deal…”

This stuff DOES matter.

In other words, the big announcement was either performative, premature, half-baked, illegal, imprudent, or all of the above.
Florida clarified that its elimination of vaccine mandates for school kids will not go into effect for 90 days and that vaccines for measles, polio, diphtheria, pertussis, mumps and tetanus will still be required unless the Legislature changes the law.
Florida’s plan to drop school vaccine rule won’t start for 90 days, won’t cover all diseases
Florida’s plan would lift mandates on school vaccines for hepatitis B, chickenpox, Hib influenza and pneumococcal diseases, such as meningitis, the health department said.

Any reprieve from hurricane season — even a short one — is a welcome break.

My reporting includes insight from the one and only Bryan Norcross.
Hurricane season is about to take a breather. But don’t get comfortable
After Hurricane Erin moves out to sea and three other systems fizzle out, the tropics will take a short break. But forecasters warn that it’s far too soon to let your guard down this season.

Please share this widely, it’s incredibly important for Florida voters.
ATTENTION FLORIDA VOTERS: If you've renewed your driver's license in the past year — or intend to soon — make sure your voter registration is updated.

A new law means your license number will change, and that change may bump you off the voter rolls.
Florida driver’s license change could snag unaware voters
For the past year, people renewing their driver licenses or state ID cards have received a new number. And that could cause problems for voters in next year’s elections.
