Reject imposed obligations, expectations, and roles.
They need to be sent to the A.G Pu Yi Institute of Plutocratic Remodelling, then placed into useful work.
Sweeping streets, maybe. Or gardening…
Whatever.
They just need to go.

Outrageous. I hadn't heard of this fire, either.
Although it didn't burn the entire building, á la "Towering Inferno", it's a prime example of plutocratic solipsism, sociopathic indifference, and just… greed.

Wealth can't be a metric for leadership.
It should be contraindicated for leaders.

Wasn't aware of the BBC headline from 2013. I recall The Towering Inferno as a 1970s blockbuster disaster film, based on a dread scenario which was unheard-of IRL at the time.
I was thinking of the Grenfell Tower fire as the other instance of a "second time".

Whoever heard of a *whole skyscraper* on fire, let alone a cluster of whole skyscrapers?
I think there was a Paul Newman / Steve McQueen film about such a fire once. With William Holden and Faye Dunaway. And Fred Astaire…
But whoever heard of this happening in real life — for a *second* time???

Was this featured in an Adam Curtis doco, once?

Is there a British equivalent to the American word "astroturfing"?
Or do you guys just say astroturfing?

It's curious how we tend to apply colonialism only to circumstances we choose to criticize, while completely ignoring the concept where it's relevant, in circumstances we consider unimportant.
It makes one question whether our commitment to anti-colonialism is, in fact, that…

I loved the scenes where Sharon Tate turned up at a cinema on a whim, for a matinée screening of her own film. The exchange with the cinema manager was absolute gold, and the final image of a bare-foot Tate in a nearly-empty theater, blissfully munching free popcorn was the icing on the cake. ❤️

Sounds like someone has had an epiphany… after noticing suddenly how last decade's zeitgeist is now today's niche.

Graham Nash, among many others, once genuinely believed that music could change the world. At age 80-something now, he might still feel this way.
But — how can music change the world when so many of us have stopped caring about music to this extent?
I mean widely distributed, top 40-style music…

I love the slogan printed on that sign, in the article's thumbnail image: "The more you know, the more you NO!"
I'm stealing that.
I'll steal that, and détourne it in so many, many ways…

Yes. The "fun" part. The real part of relationships.
The best part, I think.

💯 So many crypto investors have borrowed against their crypto equities to make other investments, which has inflated the prices for every conceivable type of token, instrument, stake, or real property throughout the rest of economy.
This is an absolute disaster, just waiting to happen.
