Idle Hands and City
Excellent stuff that. Real Madrid are always spiteful, cynical stuff so fair play, last seasons City wouldn’t have the stomach for that. Saw grumbling about the subs but thought they made sense. He’s clearly taking better players off but you know what that tells me…Pep defo thinks the league is on.

50/50s swinging a game as a training session now.
Big half that, as the team are fighting a losing battle in regards to the 50/50s. It can completely swing a game. But they kept their heads and ended strong then. Just incredible that Rudiger is allowed to get away with so much I genuinely think that he thinks rugby tackles are no problem.

Can’t be doing with this already. It’s like it’s own rules football at Real Madrid.

Mad how many people clearly want the rights to that Wyle E Coyote film.

What a great day of football. Lovely stuff.

Got an email from the daily mail asking to interview me about the impact of Christmas markets on local business. Next I’ll be speaking with Trump about how Amazon is bad.

Oh I didn’t realise we were battling against the jinx gods! That game makes a lot more sense now.

Is it as simple as a for Rodri in this team gives it enough? Defensively shores us up. Mentally it’s a boost. And can’t underestimate those clipped balls over the top for Doku/Savinho.

Have we accidentally done the boxing day fixtures today?

But please can their next *actual* training session be on how to stop the opposition arriving first to those loose second balls cleared out to the edge of the area.
Okay two mad second halves and this one such a freak incident I hope it can just be used like some mad training session instead of just knocking confidence.

Two things I like after this weekend:

1) City (quite badly) do the goalkeeper thing for the very first time, after years of it being a thing, and they’re suddenly gonna sort a law out to stop it.

2) Donnarumma is close to being suspended basically for just being Italian.

Strange one that. Great game for first 11. All I can think is the physicality of the Newcastle game after internationals took more of a toll than Pep’s letting on. He alluded to it. And let’s be honest the Leeds game whilst Chelsea play Arsenal IS more important. So I kinda get it, just backfired.

Just a bad game to have after an international break. Especially with ref allowing a physical game. Got bullied a bit. Scrappy as hell and fell the wrong way for us. Not much more to it than that.

There was definitely a point when bowling alleys just went “you know what, fuck it, wear whatever shoes you want”. Accept your whole historical schtick has been wrong. Be more bowling alley.

Can we pinch the City Women’s set piece coach? 8 goals from them in 9 games.

Took a picture of just the ref after Doku scored to remind myself of the best view I’ve had of a goal since I was sat behind Elano for his Newcastle freekick. Peach.

Such a good performance. All across the pitch. Doku will get the plaudits (and rightly so), but Nunes and O’Reilly both absolutely brilliant. Just buzzing with all of that, proper good stuff.

Remember being so unbelievably happy for Del Piero when this went in. Juve were my European team when I was little and Del Piero my hero, yet he had such a weird relationship with the Italian National team. Could never understand why he was the scape goat and it just never clicked properly for him.
On Alessandro Del Piero’s birthday, a reminder of one of the most dramatic counter-attacks in World Cup history…

Just remembered this. I was living in London and having to get an hour tube every day with an early iPhone and this was my life.

Ahh just seen about KDB. Gutted for him.

Paul Merson doesn’t seem to know anything about football at all. How was he so good at it?
October 22, 2025 at 9:11 AM
Could sense one, so annoying. Hopefully just a stamp on Nico, but looked more like a twist when it happened and not seen replay since. Fingers crossed Rodri and Kovacic can get fit enough to share the role for couple games.
Very good first half that. Getting our swagger back. Especially against a team seemingly out to grab and kick us whenever they can. Hopefully they don’t get too cynical and we can avoid injuries.
