I don't know him, but given his career I will guess that he voted against it at the cabinet table. (Of course cabinet votes are confidential, so no way to verify.)

No. Like the Human Rights Commissioner, I said the evidence needs to be gathered before any decision is made, and that the right parties - *not City Council* - should be involved in making the decision.

I've heard that too, and the City of Victoria has very little land (we had to buy 926-930 Pandora in order to give it to the province), but many of the other municipalities in this region have a lot of land that they could give.

It's expensive to build affordable housing. The biggest contribution municipalities can make is zoning reform that allows more apartment buildings. That is the most cost-effective building form, and makes the best use possible of the various contributions.

That's the big question. CRHC staff are good at shaking all the bushes for construction grants. And rents cover most operating costs. The City of Victoria provided land for the affordable and supportive housing project at 926-930 Pandora, and has provided small grants to help projects get going. ...
