I think the best way to start it is by explaining what's going on in the world first. "What IS BirdHaven?" That's a question a lot of people are going to ask.

I think the main issue was figuring out what to do after 11. Sure, it could have released sooner, but having no idea how to not make 11 again (which would have been fine) would make it harder to create a new game for the series.
