I've added touch screen support to the playfield in Table Slayer. A "two finger press" will now launch a small menu on the table (if your display supports touch events) that allows you to do 75% of the things you can do in the editor.

Spacecorp 2025 is a super neat game. It has three boards called "eras". This is the end of the "Mariners Era". I set up bases on the Moon and Mars. Next we move to the "Planeteers Era" (a different board) where we explore the larger solar system. Game ends in the "Starfarers" era with alien life.

Couple shots from a near party kill from my Pathfinder campaign a couple weeks ago. Drawing on the map is useful on Table Slayer for keeping track of active spells.

Built a 7.5 ft cork board for my basement game room. Always wanted something easy for kid art. Used my Marvel Champions cards to weigh down the cork to the plywood as it set.

The Anarchy is such a fun solo boardgame. It hits all the bits of gaming I like and wraps it within a beautiful theme. It's so satisfying filling those little boxes in while building up your castle defenses.

Thinking about Heinlein this morning (doesn't everybody?) and was reading his Wikipedia. Came across this bit about the "competent man" and realized this is one of the core reasons I've loved him. It's why I also gravitate towards the positivity of Star Trek.

Had a hankering to get my dozen year old Lulzbot 3D printer running after 5 years of collecting dust. Diagnosed a loose USB connection as the reason it would disconnect mid print. Opened it up to resolder it and saw this work of art. The wiring is so tidy.

Played my first couple games of Radlands with my son (he beat me both times). Deceptively easy rules hide a lot of depth. Can see us playing this one a lot.

This seems to be resolved. Guards, knights, squires.... prepare for battle.

All set for the kids game today!

Table Slayer... the physical product...? My touch screen works pretty well, now I just need to make the playfield support touch like the editor does. If you're interested in buying something like this let me know. I want to build a device that you plug in some power and it "just works".

Really enjoying Fate of the Fellowship.

Banjo sometimes likes to sneak up directly to my face while I'm sitting on the couch. Ears back stealth mode.

I'm not the best at painting minis, but did a quick sorcerer for my son.

Every time I prep for a session (this time for my son's friends tonight) I find things to improve or fix in Table Slayer. I need to find a way to play two games a week instead of two a month to better winnow remaining issues.

Small one today: make it so tooltips go away when erasing / drawing.

Still not entirely sure how to shoot demo videos of some of these updates, but I improved the touch controls for Table Slayer. Took some inspiration from Procreate with meaty sliders for size and opacity. Really happy with how much you can do without a keyboard.

Taking a break from Marvel Champions to learn how to play Vantage. It's nice having a board game buddy in your fam that bugs you to play.

I like the sand socket method myself.

Improved Table Slayer's marker system. Markers can now "pin" tooltips on the player map. A good use case: this allows the GM to create ephemeral signposts to mark points of interest on a busy overland map (like my Kingmaker campaign).

I really like making little doodles to go along with my maps. It gives a lot more context to players about where they are.

Well that didn't take long. The fog opacity can now be different on the DM editor vs. the play field.
September 13, 2025 at 4:20 AM
What actually is the worst, is that while prepping I always notice small features I need, so I spend a couple hours building those instead of prepping my game! In any case, a separation between DM opacity and Player opacity for the fog of war should be in soon.

Just about ready to merge support for video files in Table Slayer. You can still add effects on top or recolor them with color grading.
