#Deucember Day#11. Michael Winner and Charles Bronson fused with Cannon Films to bring their vigilante hijinks to L.A. in this down-and-dirty sequel that satisfies viewers in ways the more respectable original never did. Winner's then-neighbor Jimmy Page provides the moody music.

#Deucember Day#11. Basically a mash-up of both Spielberg's 'Duel' and 'Jaws', 1977's 'The Car' is a fun chiller wherein a stylish black ride seemingly targets people in a rural southwestern town. Josh Brolin's dad James is the local lawman determined to stop this evil(?) threat.

#Deucember Day#10 Shot on location in New Orleans, 1978's
'Mardi Gras Massacre' is bad in many ways, but god help me I love it. The acting swings from amateurish and wooden to silent-film-esqe, and the dialogue and gore f/x are poor ~ but the disco/r&b score seduces me every time @gcdb.bsky.social

#Deucember Day#10 Made in 1979 but not really released until 1983, 'Microwave Massacre's a showcase for comic Jackie Vernon, who plays a hen-pecked husband-turned-cannibal in this indie horror-comedy that should be enjoyed around 2am accompanied by pizza and beer. And more beer. @gcdb.bsky.social

#Deucember Day#9. Jun Fukuda's
'Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla' ('74) is my personal fave of the 70s franchise entries, and the one I re-watch the most if I'm not revisiting the 60s or 50s stuff. I would've loved to have seen this one on a 42nd Street screen back in the day. @gcdb.bsky.social

#Deucember Day#9. In 'Pets' ('73), sexy teenage runaway Candice Rialson floats into and out of other's lives like a dirty blond-butterfly. The theme here, like the play the film is based on, is unwanted-ownership. When she feels boxed in, she walks. And sometimes, it's bloody. @gcdb.bsky.social

#Deucember Day#8. I'm full-blown obsessed with 70s horror, and unapologetically love many of the genre's more burnt offerings. Which brings us to 1971's 'The Touch Of Satan' ~ a cheap little schlocker that I probably wouldn't recommend to others, but will watch any night at 2 a.m. @gcdb.bsky.social

#Deucember Day #8. In 1984, Cannon mixed us up a cocktail of equal parts horror, martial arts, and...'Flashdance'(!) Who's complaining? One of the studio's most audacious products, 'Ninja III' is a wildly entertaining blast, and pairs nicely with 1983's 'Revenge Of The Ninja'. @gcdb.bsky.social

#Deucember Day #7. This Indonesian action-horror riff on 1984's 'The Terminator' is among the most enjoyably WTF of all grindhouse thrillers, imo. Trippy and graphic, hilariously dubbed and very inventive, 'Lady Terminator' ('88) is a must-see for fans of tangy, exotic cheese. @gcdb.bsky.social

#Deucember Day #7. A 30-year-old directed this nasty, racism-tinged hostage-revenge grindhouse-thriller, and we fans should fight for our lives to hold onto our dvds of 'Fight For Your Life'('77), as the orig. film negative was destroyed in NJ during Hurricane Sandy in 2012. @gcdb.bsky.social

#Deucember day #6. F/X whiz Rick Baker brought his A-game to this gloopy drive-in 70s-horror about an astronaut mortally changed by his Saturn-trip. It's junk, but I love it and have many theatrical promos. I even have the paperback! Look for a young Jonathan Demme in the cast. @gcdb.bsky.social

#Deucember Day #6. 50ish, and primed to bring his European fame to the U.S., Bronson kicked the door in with this supercool contract-killer-thriller in 1972. Michael Winner's 'The Mechanic' has long been a fave of mine, and it's tight script and confident performances still shine. @gcdb.bsky.social

#Deucember Day#5. 'Don't Answer The Phone' ('80) features a body-building, obscene-phonecall-making serial killer (sound familiar, '10 To Midnight'?) and has been a fave of mine for years. Look for the bad guy in 'No Way Out' ('87) and 'The Naked Gun' ('88), among other things.

#Deucember Day #5. Gordon Parks, Jr 's indie blaxploitation classic 'Superfly' ('72). Ron O'Neal's drug-dealing 'Priest' wants out of the life, but the road is littered with enemies from both sides of the law. Curtis Mayfield's gorgeous score compliments this low-budget jewel. @gcdb.bsky.social

#Deucember Day #4. The Swedish rape-revenge classic 'Thriller : A Cruel Picture' ('73) (aka 'They Call Her One Eye', aka 'Hooker's Revenge'). Grim, and gripping, this is a high-watermark for low cinema. Christina Lindbergh's silent-but-deadly avenging angel is a grindhouse icon. @gcdb.bsky.social

#Deucember Day #4. The shoestring-budgeted, regionally-shot, let's-make-a-quick-buck slasher
'Don't Go In The Woods...Alone!' ('81)
Probably not a great starting-off point for newbies, but slasherheads will get a kick out of the DIY vibe. @gcdb.bsky.social

#Deucember Day #3. 'Act Of Vengeance' ('74) (aka 'Rape Squad'). Mean-spirited exploitation-action-drama from the director of both 'Count Yorga' films. Yes, the antagonist is wearing Jason's mask and Michael Myers' jumpsuit.

#Deucember Day #3. Roberta Findlay's hard-edged, low-budget, apartment-building-invasion, revenge-splatter classick 'Tenement' ('85) (aka 'Game Of Survival'). So much nasty fun. @gcdb.bsky.social
