I occasionally publish book reviews (sites.google.com/site/davidke...), mostly as a commitment device to read and process a book I want to read.

But today I got a notification that someone cited one of my reviews, so that means they were all worth the time, right? Right?!

I love a documentary that takes a topic that's not of inherent interest to me and brings it to life! Last night we watched Whistle, which documents the Masters of Musical Whistling festival in Hollywood, California, with competitors from around the world. The movie is a delight!

This is a great addition to the limited literature on childcare/early childhood education and women's outcomes.

See our piece in Science for a brief overview of how limited that literature is www.cgdev.org/sites/defaul...
In today's JMP blog, @economiyaki.bsky.social shows how even 3 hours/day of kindergarten in Indonesia is enough to increase women's employment (by 13 p.p.) & does not crowd out care offered by relatives blogs.worldbank.org/en/impacteva...?

1) cash only

2) cash+group life-skill training

3) cash+group mental health counseling

Thanks @daveevansphd.bsky.social !

The most challenging fieldwork, but such important (and sad) findings.

Plugging @mirandainez.bsky.social who has done more work on men & women who were abducted as children. She studies how this childhood trauma impacts IPV later in life #econjobmarket
