Movies, Mets, and existential dread
I believe Brandon is, at his heart, a good & well-meaning person, but also he was raised in Wyoming, and some things just can’t be overcome.

How did he cost $20M per year? This would be a shrewd move at half the AAV, as is I’m scratching my head

5. Shouldn’t Eddie Gaedel be no more than 1/8%?
December 16, 2025 at 4:59 PM
I remember him mostly as a short lived 2002 Met. He had outings where that fastball just sizzled & others where batters really made him pay. Just goes to show how incredibly talented every major leaguer is, the stars just have a different level of consistency

I’m utterly stunned there’s another person who pulled Kane Davis in these replies (and we matched on Turk too)
December 15, 2025 at 3:00 PM
6. Who else remembers inconsistent fireballer Kane Davis?

3. Took a few big swings that paid off.

He’s correct in the sense that well-sourced, fully-contextualized historical parallels spark excitement & curiosity in the left-leaning mind the same way anger-driven, fact-free superstition does for the far right. But we all know those things are not 2 sides of the same coin.

“Run prevention”…

The entire point of getting a guy like Stearns is for him to use his mid-market creativity to fill out the roster with diamonds in the rough while using the owner’s financial might to dominate the top of the market. So far, this offseason has been anything but
December 13, 2025 at 8:11 PM
I don’t think Stearns nor Cohen are idiots, or that they don’t know what they’re doing, I’m just having trouble at the moment seeing the big picture, or being on board with it.
December 13, 2025 at 8:05 PM
Big market GMs overpay for star players. Half of this contract would be a savvy move, this is an outrageous sum for a guy like this
December 13, 2025 at 8:03 PM
For reasons I do not understand, I truly don’t think Stearns wanted to re-up with Díaz. If he did, that small gap would’ve been bridged
December 13, 2025 at 8:02 PM
David Stearns assessed this player and decided to more than double his salary. Tis the season!
December 13, 2025 at 6:09 PM
Ahhhh… that was one theme that did not occur to me.
December 13, 2025 at 5:35 PM
$20M AAV for that guy? Look at how poor his production was as recently as 2024. Passan says he’s essentially Pete’s replacement. Could not hate the move more.
December 13, 2025 at 5:34 PM
I’m stumped, what is it?
December 13, 2025 at 5:27 PM
Theme for top row is obvious, but what’s the middle row? Was thinking LCS MVP but A-Rod never won that
December 13, 2025 at 4:52 PM
3, all Mets. Hoping the universe bends towards justice & Roger McDowell ticks down as the day goes on.
December 13, 2025 at 4:47 PM
My thinking exactly. Didn’t think of Marlon Byrd until after
December 13, 2025 at 5:22 AM
7, all Mets… sort of. Traber was drafted by them but was shipped off in the Alomar trade before appearing. Knew GM Jr. would be a landmine
December 12, 2025 at 3:48 PM
Jack Leathersitch is an awesome pull! He had a really live arm & then Wally Backman ruined him— had him go like 3 innings in AAA a day after he made an appearance in the bigs, surgery followed and he was never the same
December 11, 2025 at 3:38 PM
Aaron Harang as a Met feels like it never happened, and I’m a Mets fan!
