Lover of popular music but always wanting to find out more. That golden period between 1978 and 1985 is where my heart lies but always willing to try something else.

@chrisgpackham.bsky.social Hi Chris, we've had a family of rats doing their thing outside our office. A turn of events today when a kestrel?? came and took one of the little ones and proceeded to lose it to a couple of magpies. I managed to capture it on my rubbish phone camera. Hope you enjoy it 👍🏼

I listened to these four today

Rosalia reminded me of a bar in Gran Canaria I used in Christmas 1988 that only played Spanish music. It's very, very clever and beautifully made but not for me.

Lilly Allen God bless her. Painfully brilliant and justifiably angry. Love it but will I return?

I've just been informed thanks to Steve Bradley who posts regular musical nuggets on Substack that Outlandos d'amour by The Police was released 47 years ago today. 17th November 1978. Containing Roxanne, So Lonely and Can't Stand Losing You.

Day 17

Nick Heyward

I Really Don't Know You

A song loved by Terry Hall from 1997s Apple Bed. There's an upcoming release on a 4cd box set of Nick's 90s work which I recommend getting on your Christmas list.

Watching the Simple Minds documentary I'm reminded of this quote from Justin Currie's Tremolo Diaries

Hi Gary, like most of the country I've been blown away by Sara Cox's Children In Need marathon exploits this week. So how about a 90s banger for Sara? The Long Pigs and She Said.

With remarkable serendipity with everything else going on this week this should be the biggest story about the BBC. The remarkable Sara Cox has found a rich seam of good out there. Don't let anyone tell you we're a broken country. This is magnificent as is Sara

Andrew, I'm clumsily and shamelessly choosing this Hot Chocolate collection because it fits the bill but also to allow me to share the link to a thing I've written on the band....

3 years ago I decided to listen to 12 McCartney/Wings albums in 12 months as I'd done with Bowie. I managed 6. McCartney inspired so many of my favourites but I've never quite got him. Band On The Run seems to be in the news. Here's what I thought on first listen

Just turned on #Strictly Decent dance I thought. Who's the celeb? Oh, 4 tens. But really, what's the point?

When you drive past his gaudy pink ex property it reeks of wrong. The park is beautiful ( I know, I know but it is and full of wildlife and ancient trees) his ex abode is an eyesore. If they're serious make it a community hub there's a woeful lack of a day centres in RBWM which is abhorrent.

A simple concept that encourages you to really listen to a favourite album again in full. A reappraisal. I've gone from The Nolans to The Cult in 2 months 🤔 Great fun seeing others choices too. Here's my Love #ArtistFaveLP selections from 1 to 10..
