I'm a Commercial Electrician who enjoys economics (MMT), urbanism, and good food.
Swapping energy sources is the easy part. What's hard is building the housing we need. Adding extras like ev charging station and solar panels to an affordable housing building is unnecessary and makes housing more expensive to build. Build the housing first, add the extras later.

They don't need to. All cities could be fueled by the most polluting sources known to man. Them powering dense housing and other urbanist infrastructure would counteract the emissions and would use less energy than adding these milestones. We can fix all that after the infrastructure is built.

The importance of a kitchen when you're traveling is key to reduce costs. You can't save money at a hotel, extended stays with kitchens allows you to save on eating out. Airbnb's give people that ability. Unfortunately, I agree most people are just using it because they don't like being in hotels.

I think it's depends. If you're staying some place for a day or 2, a hotel is more than enough. The reality is we don't have enough extended stay housing. When people travel, the cheapest hole in the wall hotel/motel is $50 a day. For a month that's basically rent prices.

If we are serious about climate change, reducing CO2 is the metric we are using. Even if we don't change how we build new housing, simply building more housing in high density reduces emissions. So at the worst, we're hitting multiple birds with one stone with no change in materials or energy use.

They are connected. A lot of our energy needs is influenced by our housing. Low density developments require and use more energy than high density developments. Not to mention regulation and housing norms prevent energy efficient housing impossible or expensive to build.

With the Fold I'm getting, not only a premium software experience, I'm also getting leading technology advancements that justifies the nearly $2k price.
September 20, 2025 at 1:51 PM
They did. The difference is that flexible screens are a relatively new technology that developers are trying to understand and improve their applications for. There's literally nothing new about a new iPhone. Their software is basic, barely any AI tech, but they're charging you premium prices.

That doesn't sound futuristic. That's just making existing tech better. That's what they're supposed to do. That's not futuristic? It's expected.

What's futuristic about it?

Who does she think she's impressing with that disaster?

I hope the EV think is just for the pipes and not the full charger. Getting the pipes ran is great for future proofing while keeping costs down. Paying day is always cheaper than tomorrow. But poor people can't afford EVs yet.

When I drive to bumfuck nowhere, I need my road to be clear of traffic. But why are all these cars headed there too? Lol

I generally don't know enough about Powell, but being in the MMT space, I don't agree with some of the policies I can understand. But the way Powell does everything he can to respectfully show Trump he doesn't respect him or his power will forever get my respect. Powell has zero fucks to give. Lol

Im pretty sure Texas has a bunch of laws and backdoors to save themselves and businesses. They can sue but they'll never see a dime. They'll just slip into another shell company and avoid accountability all together.

There's a concept called "Filtering." The long and short of it is, if you don't allow for "luxury" units then higher-paid people outcompete affordable units. If you build the luxury units, it reduces the competition for affordable units. It works to a point but that's where public housing comes in.

Correct and CEQA Abuse is one pivotal pillar in the structure that has been removed. Now things can be built faster than corporations can buy them. You have to understand the economics to understand the issue.

False choice. If people weren't blocking housing and allowed for more density and public transit, you wouldn't need as much oil in the first place. But California NIMBYs didn't want to be inconvenienced by sitting next to a poor on a bus on their way to the next environmental protest.
