What an absolute delight of a game, with some legitimately challenging battles that really test your ability to adapt on the fly.
I completely understand why people, especially in Japan, adore this series. It’s JRPGs in their purest form. You are the hero.

Kirby Super Star Ultra realized the full potential of the original by:
1) Fixing the controls that makes movement more fun and less slippery.
2) QOL improvements like trackers for collectables.
3) Adding new modes and characters that would go on to become either series staples or fan favorites.

If there’s one thing that I’ve learned about the fans of each of these 4 Japanese franchises, it’s that they’re not necessarily fans of the gameplay first and foremost.
They’re almost always about the story and characters, and that’s what people love to post about online. Hardly ever the gameplay.
