In the Amyotha Hluttaw, each state and region will elect 12 representatives. With 14 states and regions in total, there will be 168 representatives altogether.

In states with many non-election townships, such as Kayah, Chin, and Rakhine, only a few townships are included in Phase 1, while the rest are scheduled for Phases 2 and 3. In other states and regions, townships have been proportionally divided across the three phases.

In planning the phases, priority appears to have been given to security and geographic proximity. All eight townships in the Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory will be included entirely in Phase 1.

The number of townships without elections has gradually increased in past Myanmar elections, and this upcoming election will see the highest number yet, with 56 townships not holding elections.

The number of townships without elections has gradually increased in past Myanmar elections, and this upcoming election will see the highest number yet, with 56 townships not holding elections.
The Commission has also identified townships where elections will not be held, totaling 56 townships across eight states and regions. The remaining 72 townships will be included in Phase 3 and subsequent phases, with their dates yet to be announced.

Since the Election Protection Law was introduced, 25 people have been detained for online comments, including 10 just in October.
According to the Myanmar military, 88 people have now been prosecuted in 40 cases under this law.
