Lover, Explorer, Scholar, and host of The 42cast podcast. I chronicle what I watch and apply my own critiques especially with Doctor Who.
When I saw how poorly Marvel was promoting Ironheart, I thought it was because they must have thought that it was awful. Imagine my surprise when I watched it and really appreciated the thought-provoking journey that it took us through. If you haven't watched check it out and then listen to us talk.
Join @geekstranger.bsky.social @jdjackson.bsky.social & Daviorr as we discuss the Disney+ series #Ironheart. We get into the characters, the plot, the marketing, the themes, and so much more. Give it a listen and let us know what you think! 42cast.com/index.php/20... #MCU #scifi
The 42cast Episode 264: Let's Make a Deal

It feels like it's becoming common practice to slag off the original Doctor Who series as sexist, but how does it really stack up both against other shows of the time or against the new series? It's a serious topic, but as Doctor Who fans we thought it was well worth discussing.

Spartacus is one of those movies that everyone should watch at least once. We pulled together a panel of people that had seen the film several times before and two people who had never seen it at all. Give it a listen as we discuss why this movie is still talked about.
Join @newlegendmike.bsky.social @natebob.bsky.social & Ashley as we talk about the legendary film #spartacus starring Kirk Douglas and directed by Stanley Kubrick. We discuss the plot, acting, dialog, direction, themes, behind-the-scenes and more. Check it out! 42cast.com/index.php/20... #epic #film

I've never played the Fallout games, but this show immediately hooked me with the overall tone & the retro-futuristic vibe. It's offbeat & funny while looking absolutely amazing and also being a bit disturbing and exciting. Love it and can't wait for S2. Have some fun and listen to us discuss.

Great to see the Netflix series acknowledged. I really hope to see more of this on Disney+ beyond more seasons of Born Again and the Punisher special. Would "really" love to have Heroes for Hire and/or Daughters of the Dragon.
Listen to us talk about this glorious return.

Nathan: I love that the Punisher's love-language is, "well I didn't kill you, so I must like you."
Mark: It's the gift of life!

Sometimes it's just fun to appreciate a bad film with some friends, and this episode celebrates MST3K doing this for decades. There are lots of eras and we all have our preferences, but the show has always been funny. Listen to us chat about a great series!

I know that a lot of people won't give The Man in the High Castle a try, because they think that it would be too depressing, but it just isn't the case. The series shows that even when things look bleak that there's always hope. This is a show well worth watching.

I feel like What If..? was a real mixed bag. It had some amazing storylines, but towards end it just puttered out. I still boggle at how many good What If scenarios were left by the wayside to do some incredibly outlandish ones. Still, we had a blast talking season 3 and we hope you do too!

I'm a huge fan of time travel series, but this one was absolutely unusual. Some of the normal time travel tropes were there but combined and spun in a completely new way. I highly recommend that you watch Travelers if you haven't already and then check out our episode.

Well, my kid got me to watch this show during Covid lockdown after I'd showed her all of Gargoyles. It's an enjoyable series even though I think that it has a few missteps. We also chat a bit about the live action film and why we think that it flopped so massively.

Although I remember seeing the original series before TNG existed, this is the first Star Trek I watched live. It was a transformational experience for geeks, because so many people watched it. It was great revisiting that experience and had a blast sharing with my friends. #sttng #tng

In some ways this show frustrates me. It proves that Marvel can brings its A-game when it wants to and make something that is really cleverly written. It only irks me because they did it for such a minor-level character. Marvel, please bring this level of writing to more projects moving forward.

This show surprised me with how a concept that sounded so strange on paper can just be such an amazing combination of elements that leaves you always hungering for more. I definitely recommend watching Only Murders in the Building and if/when you have done so listening to our podcast ep.

I absolutely love so much of the sci-fi and fantasy landscape of the 90's. It was a joy to discuss all of that with similar-minded people in this week's podcast.

I am really looking forward to the future of the DCU after seeing Superman (2025). As we wait almost another year for Supergirl why not check out both parts of our two-part discussion of the film and let us know what you think?

It was great with this one to not only see the beginning of a new version of Superman (we've had a lot of those in recent years), but to see the genesis of a whole DCU that feels like it has a past and a future. Give this one a try as we talk about Superman and the DCU.

Echo was definitely a risk on Marvel's part. Despite a strong performance by Alaqua Cox in Hawkeye, the character wasn't as well known as other Marvel series helmers. It was great chatting with other people about how we felt that this show worked in showcasing the character.
