Dark Angels were my favourite of the "main chapters" when I was a teenager in 3rd edition. I loved their colour scheme of racing green with red and bone white, and their medieval Gothic vibes.

I really hope this is just a delay due to... I dunno, a bunch of the puffin office got flu or something. Because the other possibility is they're trying not to encourage discussion or questions around who they picked and who they didn't... I really hope it's not that second one.

I just feel like... I dunno, if you're a giant publisher, and the point of your competition was to lift up people who are marginalised in the industry and struggle to get published, it'd sure be doing us a solid to make a big announcement to give us visibility and endorsement?

I worked super hard on the extra 12-16 sample pages and detailed full synopsis they requested of those who reached the longlist because the email mentioned even those who dropped out on reaching the longlist may be listed as runners up... but not even the shortlist have been announced.

The only places to announce the winner online seem to be The Bookseller and Down the Tubes. When I asked at the Puffin booth at tbubs, they seemed kinda cagey like, "Oh... we announced it already. The winner was... a guy called Leo". (No, really)

It's a magic school story for a new generation, featuring queer rep and exploration of themes like marginalisation and institutionalised oppression, but it's also fun with cool magic and stuff!

Witchery at Ravenmanse is about a teen girl who's training to be a Witch hunter, but then develops magical powers and must go to the very magic school she was sending kids to!

Honestly it probably is just coincidence, but in the off chance that it was an intentional homage, I love it.
