Last night was an emotional rollercoaster but we got through it. There was crying. I didn’t cry but I barely held it together. They even showed my old episode of “A Beautiful Resistance” from 2020. Talk about a throwback. I was instantly transported back to my mindset living under COVID lockdown

I first started reading “Calvin & Hobbes” in the Boston Globe while I was a 5th grader at the Josiah Quincy School. I started collecting trade paper backs as a teenager. I have these left & divided up the others—i.e. “Yukon Ho!”—between my nephew & niece who my younger brother & I introduced them to

I was District 7 Spelling Bee Champion in the Boston Public Schools as a 1st, 2nd & 3rd grader between the 1981-82 and 1983-84 school years. After winning multiple spelling bees—the District 7 Final was in the Quincy auditorium—the Citywide Spelling Bee for your grade was in City Hall. I lost all 3.

SMU for real created an activation outside of a Boston mall last night to coincide with playing Boston College this afternoon? Do they do that everywhere, I wonder? The city isn’t that invested in Boston College or their athletics anymore even though it’s in the ACC.

A documentary I was in about the 2021 Boston mayoral race “A Boston (R)Evolution” is running on GBH right now. I was just talking about how few people have seen it just 6 hours ago…

I’ll be on Java With Jimmy with Malia Lazu discussing the state of Black politics in Boston between 12:30 and 1:30 via GBH. At least it’s not back to back meetings like the rest of my week has been.

Here are three of the books I use at home before digging into the research archives at the Central Library at Copley Square—the first public library in the entire nation.

“Only The Ball Was White”
“Voices From The Great Black Baseball Leagues”
“The Biographical Encyclopedia Of The Negro Leagues”

There is a MASSIVE puddle outside of Dumpling Palace on Mass. Ave near Berklee College Of Music that I totally didn’t see in time to avoid it. Looks like when I get back home I’m gonna have to change to my 3rd pair of socks tonight…

HAPPY HALLOWEEN, BOSTON!*

Just found out I’ll be going against one of my best friends, Jeneé Osterheldt…

How badly do I want to win is the question?

I get paid to know about it, teach about it, write about it AND talk about it. Sometimes it's a lecture, or a panel, or an interview either in podcast form or in a documentary or a docuseries. You don't need to know about all that, just trust me when I tell you. It happens.

Just to let y’all know…

ESPN 2 is finally playing “Believers: Boston Red Sox”. I’m in all three episodes. I will finally be adding this to my IMDb page
