I think I knew you liked Deep Rising, but great to see it on the list! This would have been very helpful for my film club last year when our Christmas theme was 'I saw three ships'.

Week 11: Jack Cardiff: Legend of the Lost (1957). It looked great. Cardiff can shoot a desert scene. A fun adventure film, on the whole, but I wasn't sure about the comedy elements at times.

You've reminded me that I was in Glasgow the last time they qualified in 1997. The Scotland game was in the afternoon and England's last game was in the evening. I thought that it would be a perfect time to watch it in the Students' Union bar... 😬

Yeah, it was. Some of those set-pieces are astonishing. Although it was pretty grainy, so not sure if there is a restored version? Unfortunately, I had seen Wages of Fear about a year ago, so I couldn't help comparing!

Was this at the cinema? They showed it at my local recently, so I got to see it for the first time on the big screen.

Ah, amazing! My daughter has been writing about him for her university course, so I've been hearing a lot about him. Love Tale of Tales and Hedgehog in the Fog, but need to see more.

That's interesting. Seemed to remember the attitudes being quite outmoded even at the time. Although I was 13 so wouldn't have known much! Or might be misremembering.

Would have been 14 at the time for AA, but definitely! Don't think we'd have got in on our own, so definite props...
