This is one of those phrases that Angry Gamers love to use and I absolutely hate it.

- best game that was really bad at launch last year but the dev did the work and it’s actually really good now
- best non-multiplayer game to play while hanging out with friends on Discord

- best implementation of a credits sequence

When you can reliably write down the things you can hear with your ears, it becomes easier to write down the things you hear in your head.

Find a simple song you like and transcribe it. Ice Cap Zone, The Prelude from Final Fantasy, Chrono Trigger's Wind Scene. Anything straightforward. Try to recreate it in your DAW. Get the notes right. Get the chords right. Do it by ear. Listen carefully and write down what you hear.
