Patrick Cowley ‘Hard Ware’ consists of ten tracks recorded between 1980-82, all previously unreleased, it’s funky & sleazy, but closes with a warning. ‘Ice Age’ on the surface tells of an incoming cold winter but this “synth-hymn” is a thinly veiled message about the AIDS crisis. Literally chilling💙

Decompose is the title track from the sophomore Bézier album out Nov 14. The song takes the form of a Buddhist chant, a brooding synth-driven meditation that scales steadily until breaking into John Carpenter-esque arpeggios halfway through.

Pajama Party Massacre” is a New Wave song with a hilarious vocal performance from Cowley that tells a camp slasher story worthy of John Carpenter. It’s naive, punky, and maybe a little goth, predating the legions of weirdo gays who would find solace in gory horror movies. - Andrew Ryce

C.L.A.W.S. Splat City II - picking up cues from the Hague’s Giallo-dipped electro, the skewed minimalism of Chicago acid, and the mind-rending forays of San Francisco post-punk icons like Chrome and Tuxedomoon. Out Nov 21st 🐈‍⬛ clawsisthebastard.bandcamp.com/album/splat-city-ii

positively skewed cover of “Singin’ in the Rain” by Evelyne/Masao (TESTPATTERN) shows affinity for continental French and Japanese electronics. Evelyne’s vocals alternate deftly between New Wave deadpan and unhinged chanson singer. 🇫🇷 🇯🇵

Bézier returns to Dark Entries with a 2nd album after 7 years of meditation, Decompose is his most introspective work yet.
The album begins with “Egg” full of intricate melodies & cavernous reverb induce in the listener feelings of both claustrophobia & free-fall bezier.bandcamp.com/album/decompose

Soft Cell’s cover of “Tainted Love” is by far the most innovative merger of synths and soul, that signified a new sound. They laid the raw foundations that so many pop groups built their sounds on.

I was lucky enough work with Dave on a reissue of his Psychic TV acid house project from 1988, “Blue Pyramid” by Virginia. I love this interview with Soft Cell talking about their relationship and early days

R.I.P. Dave Ball 💔 Soft Cell was a major influence on my identity and musical taste as a teenager. I remember dubbing my Non Stop Erotic Cabaret LP to cassette so I could play it in my car and it became the soundtrack for going out dancing every weekend in New York City.

The Pool was a project of Patrick Keel, a multi-instrumentalist, producer, and performer from Dallas, then Austin, Texas created in 1980 as an outlet for tight, skeletal, synthetic dance music. The Pool reissue is back in print, with a 12-page booklet. thepool.bandcamp.com/album/dance-it-down

Happy heavenly birthday to Patrick Cowley who should be 75 years old today. To celebrate we’ve collected 10 tracks of pure, uncut Cowley: sultry, psychedelic, sarcastic, and just a bit sleazy. Hard Ware is another crucial document of a tremendous talent taken too soon. patrickcowley.bandcamp.com

On November 14th, Bézier ripples their way back to Dark Entries with Decompose, an LP of doomed spa music. It is an album almost ten years in the making, a deep investigation of life, loss, and the struggle of knowing oneself. bezier.bandcamp.com/album/decompose

Patirck Cowley’s chilling synth-hymn ”Ice Age,” in which Loverde vocalist Peggy Gibbons sings of a coming frosty apocalypse. The story told in “Ice Age” mirrors the coming AIDS crisis and feels like a haunting premonition from Cowley.

TESTPATTERN is a highly fascinating album that bridges the gap, linguistic jet lag included, between Japan and France, between YMO's pre-electro derivations, which influenced both hip-hop and US synth-funk, and the ironic and alternative French new wave of the 1980s
