I tend to keep out of these things but as someone who has dealt with an awful lot of kids over the past 34 yrs I have thoughts on this. AI is a red herring I think - Zoom teaching in lockdown, unfettered access to screens, a shift in attitude towards education as a service, underfunding, the list…

I’m assuming you know the magnificent In Sight of Death by TJ Clark which looks at this painting in great detail. One of the great art books on making the viewer really look.

I enjoyed it - there was a lot that was fun in there - an often overlooked quality. Also some really smart stuff about the way fascism can grow. Total command of the noir tropes knowingly deployed plus tongue in cheek silliness. Glad I read it.
