Yep, that's what I meant! There have been times where the block suddenly vanished (for a few minutes) and the gym/pokestops all showed up. Infrastructure is there, just not accessible.

Good question — will start with the classics, so The Thing and Event Horizon (I assume everyone has watched Alien at this point). Pandorum's pretty cool too. More recent ones... Europa Report, Underwater, Color Out of Space.

I've been playing for 4 years! This is my pride and joy.

There's a lot of hidden or less-obvious gameplay mechanics in the game! The raiding scene is surprisingly intricate with it (i.e. letting a Pokemon get slammed in the face with a nuke move so it can counterattack with its own nuke move, which overall means higher DPS).
