NBA, Detroit Pistons, and fantasy basketball fan. Sometimes like to pretend I got jokes
anyone wants to pay Ivey it'll be because he's worth it and idk that the Pistons necessarily benefit by escaping that decision. CJ can't be a long term solution so this trade would basically just be buying on Ellis who has shown less AND is still due a contract next summer only he's a UFA

I get where you're coming from but I also feel like it's fallacious to say "were gonna have to pay this guy $____" and also say "this guy's production/upside doesn't warrant paying him $____". This isn't the 2016 landscape where simply being a successful rookie warranted a max, IF...

Agreed it boils down to how much you buy into Ivey but the only real improvement that he's made which might've been inflated by his shortened season last year was 3P% and he's been able to keep it up in his limited ramp up this season so idk, to me this is a bird in the hand situation

Not hating but CJ is putting up 19/3/3 on 44/40/80 shooting whereas Ivey was putting up 18/4/4 on 46/41/73 shooting pre-injury. I get the benefit of having Keon waiting in the wings but given that we're not short on upcoming prospects atm, idk if that justifies swapping Ivey for someone 11yrs older

To me this just says there's not much of a market for Anthony Davis and Mavs/Shams are reaching just to make it look like Dallas isn't in a destitute position

Way too often I see him get the ball on the perimeter looking to pass into Duren while his defender gives him all the space in the world to close off that pass because they know he won't shoot. Stew would be able to set a screen and pop so he's actually a threat from there

I'd believe that, he has looked a little disengaged on offense in the past few games and feeling overwhelmed or uncertain of his role would be a reasonable explanation. I think they should experiment more with Holland in his slot with the starters and let him play a bit more alongside Stew

I get the late night "u suck" one. Just one of many factors straining my relationship with my mom

Cant disagree they're probably not prioritizing a backcourt pairing with Ivey when they've been so successful in his absence but if Ivey WERE to return to the 18ppg/40+3P% player he was pre-injury I dont think they could avoid starting him imo. Ivey won't be Trey Murphy, but he might not be far off
December 3, 2025 at 5:28 PM
You mean in a "he'll always be more valuable off the bench" type of way? Or in a "he'll be traded before he even gets his conditioning to the point he can start" type of way?

In Detroit I feel like it was slightly easier to defend the poor roster construction because it was arguably more important to try and find whatever diamonds in the rough we could and if we lost games in the process, all the better for lotto odds. But with NOLA trading away next year's pick, yikes

Imo the only trade I would consider would be a long term add like if we could pry away Jalen Johnson or Trey Murphy. We almost escaped the first round last year while missing Ivey and Stew so I wouldn't even bother trying to think about tweaks intended specifically for this year's postseason

I'm gonna springboard on several other comments and just ask: what's their timeline on settling their main core? Duren and Ivey are due paydays, Ausar needs consideration too plus Jenkins might be too good to give up. What's our timeline to say yay or nay on each of this seasons core players?

Javonte for sure, Paul Reed too. Even Levert and Robinson should have been fairly minor players this year imo but have been absolutely cooking during this stretch. Just top to bottom we've got guys who can't wait to seize their opportunity and it shows

First thing I did after that last game was clip their performance cause it was so spectacular. Enjoy it whenever you need to
