And like it wasn’t just us degenerate boys in Essex calling it that, when they rereleased the remix as a standalone single, which charted for 15 weeks and went to no.1… they added “it’s gotta be big” to the title… clearly there were variants of “dong song” happening all over.

Yeah it’s decent, but it does make me wonder what’s going on with the original. Like there’s was a big remaster in 2017(?) I can’t see on streaming or the label site… genuinely feels like an active decision to keep it off streaming (in Europe at least)

Sad thing is we’re firmly into the era where more acts are digital only, and it’s gonna to create a patchwork of cultural voids when that stuff vanishes. Gaps in memory or some shit… and it’s not like you can randomly stumble onto a weird record inna charity shop if the record never existed first.

Like labels die, deals end, artists quit etc etc, loads of reasons why music (and movies etc) leave platforms… but dude, if you don’t have it physically in your hand (or downloaded to a drive somewhere), you don’t own it and the industry can revoke your access at anytime.

At my most skeptical UBI is just a mechanism for govt to funnel cash to billionaires, because billionaires currently own all the services we pay for… that said, if someone was talking about Universal Basic Services (or maybe UBI with price controls) I’d certainly listen.
