I've had taxis curse me out the whole ride for getting a short ride from a hotel stand instead of going to the airport.

So even when they accept you, it doesn't mean it's an enjoyable ride.

And if the hype had been "we're gonna make the boring stuff so so easy" instead of "unlocking new frontiers in conquering humanity" or whatever, I think fewer people would have a negative reaction.

I know the conference center / hotel at UT has been a big revenue stream, though TX state may not be able to draw high rollers the way IT does.
