Girl dad (of two) who loves video games, and I'm hoping to find more people to talk to about them because not many people I know play them! Really love Nintendo, but I also play games on PlayStation, PC, and Mobile (but that's mostly for my kids).
Knew this game wasn’t for me from the jump, but man what a bummer for this studio. I wish it was sustainable to make smaller, campaign-focused FPS games, because I know this team could’ve made a great one. Instead have to chase all the other online multiplayer shooters and can’t miss or you’re done.

I will not be elaborating further, but I was playing Escape from Ever After @escapeeverafter.bsky.social last night and got my ass beat by a grandma several times. Had to walk away from the fight for now. This game rules so hard, you need to play it if you like Paper Mario-style games.

And then I'm playing Escape from Ever After and it's better than any modern Paper Mario game outside of remakes/remasters. I would love for Nintendo to look out into the world and find some inspiration from what other developers are doing, rather than business as usual.

Continues to bum me out Nintendo keeps making these games with potential that have empty modes and empty worlds. I still can't believe that I didn't buy a new Metroid Prime game for this exact reason. That should be an instant purchase. If the world will be empty, then don't structure it that way.
I can't help but like Mario Tennis Fever, and yet: Walk to mission. Get barren cutscene where barely animating characters talk about something that doesn't matter. Game asks if you want to play tennis. You say yes. Load the tennis. giantbomb.com/reviews/mari...

I really liked Donkey Kong Bananza, but outside of that, I'm not going back to Nintendo's recent first-party games very often or at all. I recently found out I only played 10 hours of Mario Kart World, after having played Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for probably hundreds of hours.

I started playing @escapeeverafter.bsky.social (Escape from Ever After) today. I’m about 4-5 hours in, and I am hooked… I love the world, the story, the dialogue, and Mr. Moon as a character. I can’t wait to keep moving the story forward. This is a must play game!

Well, gotta be honest, there wasn't much in this Direct for me, but that's OK. I might actually get Final Fantasy VII Remake/Rebirth at some point as those look like they run well on the Switch 2. Hopefully there's a lot for others to be excited about though! Just waiting on first party now.

I decided I’m going to start a thread of games I’ve finished in 2026. Nobody cares, but I’m going to do it anyway for my own sake. I plan to go outside my comfort zone (and already have). Going to be a fun year of gaming!

I've been thinking about Anthony Bourdain a lot lately with everything going on, and how I feel like if more people embraced his ideology of learning about cultures through their food, we would be in a much better place. It's a starting point, but it's something to connect through.

I love how @remapradio.bsky.social has basically become Waypoint 2.0 (in terms of hosts/people involved). I love that group and it was my go-to for anything video game related (alongside Giant Bomb). Having @danika.bsky.social back has been amazing. Check them out if you also miss that era!

I am nearing the end of my time with Big Hops from @luckshotgames.com and I just have to say that this game is not getting enough attention/love. It is extremely ambitious and there are so many unique game mechanics that make it a blast to explore each world. Could easily end up being my GOTY!

I am nearing the end of my time with Big Hops from @luckshotgames.com and I just have to say that this game is not getting enough attention/love. It is extremely ambitious and there are so many unique game mechanics that make it a blast to explore each world. Could easily end up being my GOTY!
My only "silver lining" hope in regard to AI is that it makes us learn to appreciate and respect true human creativity more than ever before. I just hope we learn that lesson before the earth is destroyed.
