Atlanta's Housing Justice League is calling on folks to "STOP THE TADS" (TADs=TIFs for folks not in Georgia) and this is about Mayor Dickens' proposal to extend 25+ year-old TIFs (many parts of which are in gentrifying nabes) until 2055.

Oh, my oped against extending 25+ year old TIFs/TADs in Atlanta ran in print today. Nothing like irritating the powers-that-be be twice with the same piece.

Never mind the fascism, it's just all so pathetic and embarrassing

New affordable/fair housing report by @impactforequity.bsky.social

Many Chicago suburbs are ignoring or violating Illinois' fair share housing law.

Ted Wysocki on the 50th anniversary of the federal Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA), and what it means for this moment.

Ted worked for Gale Cincotta and National People's Action to get the law passed in 1975.

WTAF @notus.com?

How about a THIRD way to look at it?

THE PRESIDENT THREATENED TO EXECUTE HIS OPPONENTS.

Siri, show me an “oversight” committee over a $ multibillion 30-year TAD/TIF extension that is dominated by key participants in #TheAtlantaWay.

Not one of these orgs has been a critic of Atlanta development policies. Only 2 are even neighborhood orgs & one of those was created by large corp’s. 1/2

I just read "lynching didn't happen in the North"...well, I don't won't debate what "lynching means" but organized racist, violent murders of Black folks certainly did. A favorite read on this is 'Terror in the City of Champions' about Detroit in the mid-1930s and the Black Legion.

Just incredibly sad that the Atlanta City Council appears ready to rubber stamp a catastrophic city policy whose ramifications will last 3 decades.

And much of Atlanta seems to be cheering, or yawning.

Chicago (sort of) hidden gem.

Nothing like a "citywide watchdog and organizing platform for communities facing unchecked, developer-led growth in the name of “affordable housing”"

that seems to exist solely to block 1 permanent supportive housing project in 1 neighborhood.

Always beware orgs with no names or board listed. 1/2

This is such a good comeback against Bovino

Don’t worry everyone. The Secretary of Transportation is on it. Air travel will be safe because this administration is all about data and evidence-based decision-making.

"deeply rooted institutional beliefs" in a system that has been burned to the ground by the folks who he is "counting on to keep (their) word"

@durbin.senate.gov needs to resign now. Retirement is too late.

A lot of viral video of Bovino’s terrorism yesterday in Little Village. This frame shows a branch of Self-Help Credit Union in background.

Self Help, out of North Carolina, has a storied legacy as a CDFI, a program Miller-Trump is trying to destroy.

It’s all coming together for the far-right.

Glad this appeared in @chicagotribune.com today. Includes signatures of CEOs of Chicago & Illinois Chambers of Commerce & other business folks, & from faith & philanthropic sectors. But worth noting how few business types actually signed, & that some of these business orgs helped get us here.

More Bovino-led horror in Little Village today. Matt is a reliable leader in the community.

Never mind the fact that a 50 year mortgage is a bad idea [rate will be higher so won’t save much, build equity more slowly, and could have a (likely small) upward effect on prices]

It’s hilarious he is calling FDR a great American president as he’s gutting the safety net.

When the primary concern you articulate as a religious "leader" about Miller-Trump immigration policy is that detainees be able to receive the sacraments, I think maybe you've lost the plot...
