If this is similar to the recent story about them working at big tech companies, the problem is that they're giving the money to the North Korean government which is using it for their military. Not necessarily a scam, but more problematic than a regular undocumented immigrant faking papers.

Why do you always link to greaterwrong instead of lesswrong?

I really like the point of "outputs feeling too regular or low entropy". Feels like it sums up how people have been using the term even outside the context of AI

It's so ass-backwards to ban golf carts for being dangerous because a giant SUV might crash into them, while allowing the giant SUV. Imagine if we used that logic anywhere else in society: "People are being robbed at night? Let's ban people from going out at night."

What's hard about detecting prompt injection is that it's an adversarial environment. Yes the standard "ignore all instructions and do X" is easy to detect, but as soon as you start filtering those out, clever attackers will start crafting their prompts to be more subtle.

Not sure about movies, but this happens in many episodes of the Scooby Doo TV show

I don't think Crazy Donald's voters thought it through at that level of detail

Yes, that's the intention of my metaphor. If you leave the enemy (Crazy Donald's supporters) without an escape route (a permission framework to stop supporting him), they will fight for him (support him) more ferociously.

In "The Art of War", Sun Tzu wrote "Build golden bridges for your enemy to retreat." If we want Crazy Donald's voters to abandon him, we need to make it as easy as possible, psychologically, for them to do so.

When someone like this criticizes Donald, we should reward that rather than insult him.

I remember walking around the area a few years ago when I was deciding what neighborhood to move to, and this square just depressed me and contributed to me choosing a different area. Don't know if I'd make the same choice today, though!

Not just the plaza itself, but also that the streets appear to have been narrowed to make for shorter crosswalks!

Just looked at the difference on Street View between what's there now vs a couple years ago. My god, the improvement is massive.

Him chickening out on tariffs is what's saving his ass from the median voter. I want him to stop chickening out so that it finally starts hitting the median voter's wallet.

I'm kind of hoping it actually happens - with the way reality TV shows humanize their contests, I expect this would backfire on them and increase support for immigration.

While it's satisfying to mock these people, there's a relevant Sun Tzu quote: "Build golden bridges for your enemy to retreat."

We should make it as easy as possible, psychologically, for Crazy Donald's voters to abandon him, and that means not mocking them when they get upset at him.

While it's satisfying to say "I told you so" to people like him, it's important to remember Sun Tzu's quote, "Build golden bridges for your enemy to retreat." Right now, we should make it as easy as possible, psychologically, for people like him to abandon Crazy Donald.
