Extremely impressed by what U Illinois have achieved with in house LLM services using their local HPC investments and open source models and tools. This is what I’ve been advocating for UCL and they’ve proved it can be done.

I attended the @computersociety.bsky.social awards ceremony (www.computer.org/volunteering...) last night, as a Board of Governors member, and was amazed and inspired by all the research, education, and mentoring work that the awardees have done, and what it's meant to computing and society

During a week of work and a week of vacation in Queensland, Australia, I photographed 190 bird species & 40 other species (marsupials, butterflies, dragonflies, etc). This included a couple of walks with Cairns Birding and 1-1/2 days guided by Tom Tarrant (australiainthewild.com). Photos to come...

On #GitHub, #copilot just filled in a PR name and description for a new PR for me, so I had to delete this before I could put in what I wanted. In effect, copilot made me take more time than before. Fortunately, I found the setting to turn this off.
