Passable human; defective sea creature.

PhD student @LSU. Obsessed with Rockhead Poachers
When I'm not #Fishbothering, I like fish scanning.

Typical fishy CT projects revolve around mass-scanning of phylogenies to make some sort of PCA... I just try to scan one animal at progressively more ludicrous detail.

I'd never trust somebody who dislikes lumpsuckers. #Fishbothering

I finally have an @ethankocak.com avatar! Check out that adorable Bothragonus. Holey-head-fish-friend!

Thanks so much, Prosanta ♥️

Thanks so much @ethankocak.com for these wonderful avatars of my lab. They all love them.

Folks Ethan is the best - send him some projects, his prices are very reasonable, and he is the nicest person too.

Really proud of @danielgeldof.bsky.social who did a really nice for his entrance seminar telling us all about his poachers and their weird anatomy (which he has been relentlessly CT scanning to the nanoscale) #LSU_fish #ichthyology

Rockhead poacher (Bothragonus swanii) embedded in agarose for a super high resolution scanning adventure. As you can see, he's pumped to be imaged. #FishSci #ScanAllFishes #HoleyHeadFishFriend #Overt

Here are some extremely quick snaps of a 3.8 micron Rockhead cranial pit in Avizo and 3D slicer. These are photos of my monitor after ~5 minutes of examining them—suffice to say there will be better things coming.

Initial conclusions: Fishy is dope

It took me three years (and a $1.3m Thermo NanoCT) but I think I've finally dethroned Diego Vaz's magnificent 7.8 micron Rockhead Poacher scan as the best Cottoid scan I've ever seen. Naturally, my scan is also a Rockhead Poacher.

With luck, I'll have some first images later this week!
