Former Science Editor of the NASA Climate Change website and member of Skeptical Science. Facts and integrity matter.
Paddle-to-the-Sea strongly influenced my early self, no doubt contributing to my professional career as a nautical cartographer and eventually to my work with NASA's Global Climate Change website.

Sea level rise: coming to a place near you
It has been said that our coastal cities are but castles made of sand.  And like sand, they will fall into the sea, eventually.  No one can tell the day or the hour, but with the expected rise of sea ...

Fortunately we have global observational data, so one's personal anecdotes are rendered meaningless. The human-driven changing of Earth's climate is well-understood and well-documented.

Eyewall vs the eye itself.

As an analogy: the rubber part of a car tire is the "eyewall" and the metal rim of a car tire corresponds to its "eye".

No scientific evidence points to that. Or was that just a throwaway quip?

While it is true that the Vikings referred to Greenland as such largely for marketing purposes it in no way implied ice-free conditions in Iceland.

Ice has been present in Iceland since at least the mid-Holocene. Since humans have colonized it, glaciers and ice caps have been always present.
