Do you know what's not accessible? Writing "a11y" in any article or documentation

I will accept it as a convenience in APIs since developers are lazy and can't spell, but fuck off with using it in text

"AI is built on the collective knowledge of humankind."

No. Nononononono. It is not built on _knowledge_, it it built on _data_. And not everyone's experiences are available as data, many communities are included. Also: "Collective" implies some sort of collaboration and shared activity. But […]

in 2017 a popular twitter game was to type a partial phrase then see what your phone auto-completes it with.

this proved so popular that it is now the only business model in the US.

I think Firefall by Peter Watts is the absolute correct reference for this. Echopraxia is also very good for understanding AI https://distantprovince.by/posts/its-rude-to-show-ai-output-to-people/

https://www.jernesto.com/articles/thinking_hard This distinction is actually interesting in the context of LLMs. It certainly gives a texture to the fact that many academic type people are LLM sceptics to a higher than average degree.

I usually complain about the opposite: that academia doesn’t […]

If I was an activist investor, I'd find every company that still has a carbon zero policy and ask in investor calls "In light of your increasing usage of AI, is your corp remaining on target for your Carbon Zero commitment?"

You know a good question to use on a technical interview? Ask them a language they know almost nothing about. Lisp or Haskell or Erlang or Scheme or whatever. Tell them: "Show me a running Hello World in that language without using AI.". Then watch them searching the internet to figure out how […]

Every time I'm writing a book I'm grateful to Benjamin Dreyer, who suggested that every writer should try going a week without using:

* very
* rather
* really
* quite
* so
* of course
* in fact

It's astonishing to search through a draft to find these words. In almost every case a sentence is […]
