Yeah, I know the hate crime lot are insatiable — it feels like a lot more than 0.5% in S Yorks.

Take your point about it being marginal but I’m not sure that the actual numbers are important.

The argument is Labour is “soft” on immigration and they need to prove the opposite. Not saying I like it.

Yeah, I’m not sure I agree with all this. I think it’s more vibes-based than you make out.

For voters, I think having confidence in the system is the most important thing.

If a politician looks like they are “getting it” — as Mahmood did this week — then voters’ confidence is likely to increase.
