Ok but you also don’t have to be needlessly credulous?

We know there are bot farms operating on twitter, and then a geo feature gets turned on that shows evidence of bot farms on twitter, and suddenly we’re all “but is it really true?”

Skepticism is healthy but we’re not shooting in the dark here.

It also seems important that this evidence is not isolated -- we already have strong evidence that bot farming and bot brigading is real.

I guess what I learned from this debacle is: Yes, most of Twitter is just dead internet. But I kind of knew that already.

I mean we should all be skeptical of everything, but the kinds of explanations you offer (VPNs, changing stores, general trickiness of geolocation) are unlikely to explain the pattern of evidence.

(I do agree with your skepticism of Twitter's engineering, and their "99% accurate" claim.)

Oh no that sucks, I’m sorry!

Grilled calamari is just better though.

But a really good quality piece of fish with a thin batter fried not too long is very good. With vinegar, tartar sauce, and mushy peas.

a) what kind of country uses the word ’floater’ to describe food, I mean really

b) definitely not! Same ecological niche as clam chowder in a bread bowl.

It is tolerable but less than the sum of its parts.

Fair but do they have vetkoek and koeksisters and shisanyama and bunnychow

(Obviously many many influences on the SA food scene and many of the best places aren’t particularly European - e.g. amazing Indian food - but I stand by this basic assessment.)

With Turkey and Greece as competitors that not a bad title!

I’ll actually say: South Africa has the best European food scene.

Never been to Aus but constitutionally incapable of giving them any titles.

Weird way to spell South Africa but ok

The Last Jedi was really not good and also Return of the Jedi is the best of the OT.

Nothing says "maximize revenue" like shrinking the taxable base.

Everyone talking about a generational opportunity to recruit US-based academics given what’s happening in the States, and this is what Labour devises.

It would be funny if it weren’t so symbolic of the deep national malaise we find ourselves in.

You could use this thing all day on my research papers and you’d never find my identification strategy
