It's been more than 2 decades since a player intercepted more than one pass in the Super Bowl. 21 years! And he was punished for it with the Helmet Catch. Anyway, that's my wild guess of something unusual that might happen in next Sunday's Super Bowl. #Patriots #Seahawks

Something else we've been waiting a long time to see again: a RB racking up 200 yards from scrimmage in both the conference title game *and* the Super Bowl. #Raiders HOFer Marcus Allen did it in the 1983 season.

The RBs with the most yards from scrimmage in these #NFL playoffs are the #Patriots' Rhamondre Stevenson with 280 (3 games) & the #Seahawks' Kenneth Walker with 256 (2). Makes you wonder again whether John Riggins' record of 625, set in the '82 strike season, will ever be broken. #Commanders

Re: #Vanderbilt's Diego Pavia, at 5-9 7/8, possibly becoming the shortest #NFL QB since the merger

I've stood next to Doug Flutie in locker rooms. On my tallest day I went 5-10. Flutie wasn't 5-10. (I'd say 5-9 max.) He hired Bob Woolf as his agent, I think, because Woolf made him look taller. 😂

Saw the #Patriots lead the way with 12 Super Bowl appearances, followed by the #Cowboys, #Steelers, #49ers & #Broncos with 8 apiece. That's the last 60 years. Here's the Top 4 in title-game appearances for the *1st* 60 years (1933-92):
16 #Giants
11 #Bears
11 #Washington
10 #Packers

Fun Fact: Johnny Unitas threw 32 TD passes in a 12-game season in 1959, when he led the Baltimore #Colts to the second of back-to-back titles. It was 35 years before an #NFL QB threw more in a season he won the title. Steve Young tossed 35 -- in four more games -- for the '94 #49ers.

The QBs who threw the most TD passes the season they won the Super Bowl. #Chiefs #Rams #Bucs
(This year's finalists have tossed 31 (Drake Maye) and 25 (Sam Darnold).
#Patriots #Seahawks

Even with all these passes flying around, we've only had 3 Super Bowls in which both starting QBs threw for 30+ TD passes in the regular season. (I included Carson Wentz just for fun, though he didn't start on Super Sunday because of an injury.) The specifics: #Saints #Colts #Patriots #Eagles #Bucs

Fun Fact: The #Seahawks' Jaxon Smith-Njigba led the #NFL with 1,793 receiving yards this season. Only one player in league history has racked up a higher total for a team that won the Super Bowl: His teammate, Cooper Kupp, who had 1,947 for the 2021 champion #Rams.

This Drake Maye-Sam Darnold matchup will be just the 4th in Super Bowl history between QBs who were taken in the first 3 picks of the #NFL or AFL draft. The first was Joe Namath vs. Earl Morrall in Super Bowl III. (Maye went 3rd in '24; Darnold was the No. 3 selection in '18.) #Patriots #Seahawks
January 26, 2026 at 10:46 PM
FYI: The postseasons Tom Brady was sacked the most times. Won the Super Bowl in 3 of them (2004, 2016, 2020). #Patriots #Bucs
January 26, 2026 at 10:25 PM
Super Bowl-winning QBs who were sacked the most times in that season's playoffs. Drake Maye has already been sacked 15 times in the #Patriots' last 3 games.
January 26, 2026 at 9:54 PM
Drake Maye is the first #NFL quarterback to make it to the Super Bowl after being sacked 5 times in each of his 3 previous playoff games. The only other QB in the Sack Era to have a 3-game streak is the #Vikings' Wade Wilson over 2 seasons (1987-88). Details:

What's this, 12 Super Bowls in 41 seasons (1985-2025) for the #Patriots? Going back to the first #NFL championship game in 1933, I can't find a franchise that's played in more title games over the same span. Not the Halas #Bears (11, 1933-73, not the Lambeau/Lombardi #Packers (10, 1936-76). Nobody.

Never mind players. You find out a lot about *coaches* in bad-weather games. The standard philosophy has always been: Try to score early, because you don't know what the conditions are going to be like later. Three points at that stage was pretty automatic. In the second half, not so much. #Broncos
The part of the Payton Fourth Down Decision that's been missing in the stories I've seen is that he spent his first 15 seasons as an #NFL coach with a dome team, the #Saints -- in the NFC South with Atlanta (another dome team), Tampa Bay and Carolina. That's his worldview. #Broncos

Just to follow up, here are the 4 times both QBs threw for 300+ yards in an #NFL conference title game -- as Matthew Stafford (374) and Sam Darnold (346) did yesterday:
#Rams #Seahawks
January 26, 2026 at 7:10 PM
2016 #Patriots: 17 wins under Belichick
2025 #Pats: 17 wins under Vrabel

1984 #49ers: 18 wins under Walsh
1989 #Niners: 17 wins under Seifert

Any other nominees you can think of who might have a gap of less than a decade between them? (minimum: 17 wins)
January 26, 2026 at 5:10 PM
Look at how close these numbers are. You could argue it's the best quarterbacked conference title game ever. #NFL #Rams #Seahawks
January 26, 2026 at 2:55 AM
Both QBs with 325+ passing yards -- Darnold 346, Stafford 330. Never happened before in a conference title game. #NFL #Seahawks #Rams
January 26, 2026 at 2:48 AM
Late in the third quarter, Darnold (142.7) and Stafford (135.4) both have a passer rating of 130+. A rating that high has been rare in a conference title game since the merger. Only 10 QBs have managed it -- once apiece. We've never had 2 do it in the same game. #Rams #Seahawks

Gotta love Harrison Mevis. He's built like Lou "The Toe" Groza! #Rams #Browns
January 26, 2026 at 1:12 AM
These are the #NFL's earliest 1,000-yard receivers. Look at how many played for the L.A./Cleveland Rams. Jim Benton, Tom Fears (twice), Crazylegs Hirsch, Bob Boyd, Del Shofner -- 5 of the first 11 players to gain 1,000 receiving yards in a season were #Rams. Amazing.
January 26, 2026 at 1:00 AM
The #Rams had an explosive offense when they were in St. Louis, but it dawns on me that *L.A.* fans haven't seen the team score like this -- talking about the Sean McVay era here -- since the stretch from 1949-53, when they averaged 30+ points a game four times in five seasons. Seven decades!
