Those engines with their top and bottom radiator intakes and big chunky propellor spinners look a LOT like the front end of the Brewster Buffalo fighter

For another, the look of the airplane itself pretty closely resembles the Douglas DB-7 in shape and the glazing on the nose, down to wing arrangement and the underslung engine nacelles. And SPEAKING of which...

There are plenty of ads for airplanes that turned out to be vaporware in these old magazines but this is a first: an entire airplane COMPANY that's a ghost! I'd never heard of Freeman and seemingly neither has anyone else, but that is where Douglas was based. Furthermore...

This is the Farman F.120 Jabiru airliner. Somehow, impossibly, the memory of this aircraft survives in the logo of a high end baggage company founded thirty years after the last of them were scrapped (albeit in the more conventional-looking two engine version)

I love an airplane that just says fuck you. I love an airplane that is an affront to God and reason.

Of course that's what the leading early 20th century French aviation magazine was called. Of course it was.

a 1910 postcard. I used to get drunk in a bar in this building's basement around the north side, a buddy of mine rented one of the apartments and punched a hole in the wall dancing to Blondie too hard, the tiling in the lobby (1907) has swastikas as a repeating design element. Hell of a building

I haven't posted any Honour Mode updates in weeks because I gave myself a heart attack doing the Iron Throne run and then couldn't bear the thought of the Steel Watcher boss fight. Having stepped away, the time came at last and Minthara eked out the win today. Now on to liberate the Orphic Hammer
