All that said, I’ll live.

The truly galling thing is that the update was downloaded, but the original game is physical.

You’re the best, Chris 🙏🏽

I don’t agree with that metaphor entirely. There’s something to be said about the purity of a single-threaded architecture with no specialised processing operating on a simple bitmapped display with no protection features. So, more like a Sopwith Camel vs an F-35 jet maybe? The former has charm!

Me too! It just came up in my Readwise today. So evocative.

Hard agree with that take

Anyway, if you can afford it, please buy Code is Just (pinned post)

It’s my best ever work, you won’t regret it, but if you can’t afford it, then download it for free, no strings. I think you’ll like it if you haven’t already read it. If you read it on Twitter, it’s a lot better in PDF/ePub form.

Even more philosophically, I see this as a clear signal from God that this is not the path for me. Alignment isn’t just between the company and me, it’s between me and my ideals. If I can’t be congruent at my age, then I’ve learned nothing.

It's remarkable how much I've changed in just the last 20 years.

Back in those days I would have taken it personally and felt bitter and upset wondering why my experience was being overlooked. Now I see things a lot more clearly. The fit has to be right. That's all that matters.
