Yeah the movie itself isn’t like that at all (and is a good psychological horror/thriller) but that marketing is really gross and an example of how gross the zeitgeist was around Brooke Shields at the beginning of her career

Also like historically we have failed at sufficiently implementing it so the real question will be the political will to implement it but there is at least a pretty wide ranging framework of theory and approaches for transitional justice to pull from to address the problem

Certainly true that they don’t all just disappear and we will have to find ways to reckon with that but I think some people are fearfully overestimating how emboldened/motivated a lot of them will still be if/when stripped of organization, resources, and the protection/mandate of corrupt leaders

Sorry for being a bit knee jerk combative about it, I’m just wary of people making the point this thread is because it feels like a slippery slope to pre-emptive capitulation/self defeat

Then again I guess most of the accounts I’m reading are coming from places like Minneapolis where ICE has large facilities. This happened in a small town, maybe they don’t have as much space so they dump non-migrant detainees into police company?
