Semi-retired photographer; sewing & textile enthusiast; embroidery hobbyist; textile print designer; casual artist; degenerate gamer. 📍Honolulu, Hawaii
It’s been over a decade since I was trying to grow an audience (photography) and it was already difficult then, but now the algorithm wars on other platforms just make it feel impossible to grow a creative account unless you are really lucky.

I feel like we weren’t as sick in the summer 🤷🏽‍♀️ But maybe the sleep deprivation has wiped my medium-term memory

I saw a video on YouTube of a crafter visiting a bunch of different ones! Honolulu definitely needs one, and I’d love to start one eventually once both my kids are in school.

Yeah, that’d definitely be part of it if I were ever able to do this! (As someone who recently used some vintage felt inherited from cleaning out her grandmother’s house like 17 years ago).

Yeah…there’s stores like that on the mainland, and I’m always getting shown FB marketplace listings for useful stuff at good prices, so I think I’d really enjoy buying and sorting stuff to sell. But I lack the funds and time to do so.

That’s awesome! I just see them when I take my son to school, but it’s a struggle to get nice photos of them without showing the location 😅 This is one from yesterday:

Now that I'm reflecting on his opinion of my technical skill...man, my classmates must have sucked because I'm not that good at painting. 😆

The most memorable project from that class was when he had us recreate one of our favorite paintings as a study, then out of nowhere made us paint an ugly still-life over it to teach us how to not be afraid to wreck something we liked. My mom still has mine hanging up at home. 😅

I also have to note I ordered a new walking foot for my sewing machine back in April and since I haven’t sewn since then, I only opened it now, and it’s not the right kind of foot for my machine. ☠️ Too late to return it.
