Every dog walk is a litter pick. A few visits to the wonderful Little France Park this week. Such a lovely place. Cleaner when I left. @pawsonplastic.bsky.social
One of the most uplifting nature videos I’ve ever seen. Storks, extinct in the UK since the last nesting pair were spotted on the roof of St Giles in the 1400s are back since 2020 thanks to the wonderful #Knepp estate. May I live to see them fly in Edinburgh again. #birds youtu.be/HWOJkrsLRC4?...

Through gritted teeth, but for once Trump’s intervention has been helpful. Not a solution, but a reduction in the killing is to be welcomed. The people of Iran are no less brave or admirable than the people of Ukraine. Both deserve to be free. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
Trump says Iran has 'no plan' to execute protesters
The US president does not rule out military action in Iran, as Tehran temporarily shuts its airspace to nearly all flights.

Appalling behaviour from X. We shouldn’t be grateful this horror has stopped on this media, we should weep that it was ever allowed in the first place. I’ve never felt better about closing my X account - X to stop Grok AI from undressing images of real people after backlash - BBC News

#birdoftheday theme is #raptor. Sometimes you get lucky. Whist walking along Blackford Glen with the dogs I heard a buzzard calling. It was a juvenile just across the burn and was presumably calling mum or dad. A lovely encounter and easy snap. #bird #birds

#birdoftheday theme is #longbeaks, which is a great excuse to show my favourite bird encounter from last year. A Little Egret on the banks of the Tweed at #Walkerburn.

🤔Um...what about the suicide numbers?

😔It's not good news. While homicides have fallen since pandemic highs, firearm suicides have increased.

Gun Violence by the Numbers in 2025
U.S. gun violence reached record lows, but still more than 110 people were shot each day. Here are other statistics that illuminate this year’s trends.

Lovely walk down by the Musselburgh Lagoons. It was frozen and pretty much empty. Weirdly a group of feeding pheasants was the main attraction. Thankfully plenty of birds along the shore. #bird #birds

My column in the Edinburgh Evening News. The Craigmillar and Niddrie Litterbusters have a genius alternative way to start the New Year. Some local heroes who make a huge difference. #litter #edinburgh #Craigmillar #Niddrie #Cleanup #pawsonplastic app.edinburghnews.scotsman.com/story/never-...
Never mind Loony Dook, Litter Busting is a great way to start New Year
While I was enjoying a rest over the New Year, The Craigmillar and Niddrie Litter Busters were off to a flying start helping improve their community.

I’m pretty sure I’ll never do a ‘Loony Dook’, but some local heroes in Craigmillar had a fabulous idea to start the new year. My column from today’s Edinburgh News. #litter #keepscotlandbeautiful #pawsonplastic #Craigmillar #edinburgh app.edinburghnews.scotsman.com/story/never-...

#birdoftheday theme is #blackandwhite. One of my favourite yoga poses by an Oyster Catcher on the banks of the River Tweed. I did enjoy getting that one. #bird #birds

❄️  Good morning Edinburgh. Tuesday’s headlines: Snow warning this morning, thousands of pupils skipping school, charity shop makes £14k in one day + 'end of an era' for Victoria Street's Maison Bleue restaurant after 28 years

Alternative #birdoftheday theme is #hidden. I just managed to capture this shy Sedge Warbler at the wonderful Little France Park earlier this year. It was one of the best photography experiences I’ve had, and all my photos are done with two (very patient) dogs in tow, so not always easy.
