Teaching about slavery without addressing the aftermarket through which Black bodies continue to be bought, sold, and exploited deprives students of a full and critical education.

Self-censorship and preemptive concessions make it easier for authoritarian regimes to consolidate power. The more we commit to dissent and resistance despite our fears of retribution, the less of our power we concede to fascists.

I refuse to call TERFS “gender-critical” because their version of feminism has no grounding in critical theory nor critical thought. It’s all about branding their transphobic hate as something intellectual. It’s not.

Owning the libs by letting ACA subsidies expire and refusing to employ emergency SNAP funds. This is very on brand for the GOP.
As the Senate heads into its 13th vote on the clean CR, Democrats face a clear choice: reopen the government for the American people—or keep it shut down to give free healthcare to illegal aliens.

A society—that has 28 vacant homes per homeless person; has more than enough food while people go hungry; where the 1% owns 30% of all household wealth; and where 68k Americans die a year due to lacking healthcare—is a failed society.

Trump wants Texas v. Johnson (1989) overturned. The case didn’t merely deem flag burning to be free speech, but extended the First Amendment to protect other deeply unpopular forms of protest.

What happens when the state has the discretion of banning any acts of protest it deems unpopular?

The Supreme Court is planning to revisit Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act, which in 1982 was clarified by Congress to allow minorities to challenge electoral systems deemed racially discriminatory.

In the case of an adverse decision, POC could lose a major tool for fighting racist districting.

I’m running for the U.S. Senate.

Billionaires have taken over Texas and taken over America — but together, we can take power back for working people.

People often ask; “why spend billions on space exploration when we could use that funding for people on Earth?”

Here’s why this is flawed. 🧵

The GOP has proposed extinction-level budget cuts for NASA. Even Bill Nye is asking Congress not to gut the program.

Public space exploration drives innovation and research that spills over into the rest of society because it’s not done for profit.

We must protect NASA!

Trump and his movement have fulfilled nine of the ten stages that autocratic legalists advance toward full autocracy.

The final stage to full autocracy along the trajectory of autocratic legalism is the process and act of rewriting election laws and remaining in power indefinitely.

A thread 🧵

Trump represents to conservative white Americans, a strong white leader capable of rectifying their racial anxieties. When we treat white supremacy and unitary executive theory as isolated, we miss the space in between.

Public grocery stores are the future of our cities if we fight for them.

The economics of municipal grocery stores are profoundly sound, taking less financial resources to run, fighting back against inflation and corporate consolidation, and offering food and jobs to local communities.

To take over Greenland would be land theft. To take over Greenland would be a transgression of Indigenous rights. To take over Greenland would be Manifest Destiny all over again.

The primary victory of Zohran Mamdani shows that progressive politics can and will win against the establishment status quo.

The question is: will the Democratic Party remain moderate and performative, or will it take the hint and embrace progressive ideas?

Abolishing carceral logic should be a cardinal principle in our approach to anti-racism. We should be encouraging people to challenge and unlearn their racial biases—and that means more dialogue, patience, and care.

Believe in the power of people to change.

Albuquerque, NM is launching a basic income program of $750 a month for a year, for low-income families. It will be funded by taxes on cannabis.

This is just one experiment, and the potential for cities across the country to use weed taxes to fund critical programs is immense.

Austin has green-lighted building parks and public spaces above Interstate 35!

The City Council was divided regarding the price tag, with concerns about funding other things like affordable housing.

This is one more reason why we need a federal Green New Deal to help fund municipal projects.

Via executive order, Trump labeled the idea of race as a social construct “divisive,” suggesting race as biological. This rhetoric has serious implications. If he can affirm scientific racism in theory, he can in practice.
