Paris, France. Ecosocialist and proud Aspie. Environment, humanism, economics, society and hope when I can muster it.
I am less aware of the specifics of HS2 but, as a Frenchman back living in France, you won't find me objecting to a strong (electrified) rail network!

Also, in order to continue they would need to have actually started...

That's still a travesty of parlimentary democracy: you could have 74% of representatives in favour of a position and it would not pass if a majority of the majority party is against (so if all Dems plus 49% of Republicans are in favour) - as it will then not be brought to a vote...

Yes. I don't agree with him on EVERYthing (most things, though), but I sure wish that more politicians, whether on my side or not, were like that.

Let's persuade electors of our views rather than try to dismiss the messenger!

Well, there IS a techno that concerts CH4 in black carbon (C) and hydrogen (H2).
No greenhouse gas
I'd argue that in that way, yes you can have oil and gas and fight climate change. But I guess then it's a fossil input, not a fuel.

You'd think that sort of rule should not need to be made explicit...

Did someone ask Grok to provide the most compelling example of what the word "cringe" means?
