"Centrist" usually just means "I don't want flak from showing my actual personal feelings" in my experience, as well. Which tends to lead one to think those personal feelings are not exactly ones productive to a modern society. =x

Making media of characters with trauma is not problematic. Rather, it exposes people who may not otherwise have a clue what sort of impact that trauma can have on others to it. Which, for MOST people, spurs a little bit of personal growth and empathy. And gives representation to the traumatized.

and if they aren't willing to even give it a thought... well, it kinda shows the kind of person they are. "Bow to what makes me comfortable even if it makes YOU uncomfortable" - kinda feels like a certain affiliation, huh?

Unfortunately there's a bunch of artists that surround themselves with sycophants who'll whiteknight them to the hilt -likely because that sort of language and behaviour draws other people who think the same way to them. It ends up becoming a nasty echo chamber. All you can do is call em on it

The amount of times I've had people flip their shit because I called them on saying something racist or xenophobic in our little community of weirdos is awfully disheartening. Like.. just use other words. It's not difficult.
