Certainly Hayrum Bellmaker had known love before he stepped into fairyland. Jassie had been a witty lass who was as deft with a tale as she was with her sheep-shears. Her hair was a lovely dark sto…

It's not an easy read but is incredible, finding revolution in pleasure and violence, magic and pain. It's not without its loss or tragedy, but it refuses to hide or erase the full spectrum of queer expression and passion and beauty. It's very much worth spending some time with! Go check it out!

In defiance, some people host very queer, very kinky sex parties knowing that the cops will show, and meet violence with violence, striving to kill their oppressors while also finding magic and connection in each other. The result is kinetic, powerful, and deeply unsettling, a train wreck in slow-mo

the month ends with the amazing "Bullet Time at the Kink Party" by miriam and oof. It's an intense story unfolding in a few seconds of confusion, violence, and community in a future where queerness is illegal and police have even more of a shoot first, don't ask questions attitude

The more they insist, though, the more it's possible this HOA is just like all the others, a conservative institution more interested in conformity than in safety, and more invested in chilling perceived deviance than in solving problems. It's a great poem

I quite like Bree Wernicke's take on HOAs with "Welcome to the Horror Opposition Association!" which finds this different kind of HOA trying to warn new homeowners of the dangers of the horrors all around them. Don't look. Don't listen. If you want to survive you'll follow the advice of the HOA

It starts strong with Rupkatha's "pigwitch" which is at turns magical and terrifying, as a narrator who has grown up around magical pigs who have maybe eaten a god, faces their relentless and inescapable nature. They seem to be a source of power and a promise of endings both, as they whisper dreams

The piece is strange and dreamlike, the gods ineffable beings who still tantalize and seem to feed off of humans in unsettling ways. The narrator is out to find a god, but just what they'll do when they find her is another matter. It's a weird but compelling read.

The narrator has gone from a heavy fruit eater to someone who abstains, thanks to their partner, who helped them see that the fruit didn't really help them and indeed made things harder for them. But still they both remain captivated by Lady Matilde. So the narrator goes to find her at her home
