The interview took place because I had made a computer rap (on the track "Rewind") and that fitted into their remit. A few weeks later he had me on his BBC Knowledge (?) show about video games. I played a vintage handheld game in a stairwell for an insert. Not sure I ever saw the result.

Unfortunately I was and doubtless still am the world's worst interviewee, because I had / still have nothing to say for myself. It was left to poor Charlie to desperately search for an angle, noting that there were "wires everywhere" and that I had a banana on the table.

Relic from the past #3: Charlie Brooker gave me his phone numbers in 1999. Yes this really happened. He came round my studio to interview me once for the Radio 1 show he was presenting at the time called "Digital Update". No idea how or why I still have this bit of card.

To make matters even more mind bending, there was a random dude there wittering on and on and on to us for hours. He was rambling on about ambient and how "even the A in ambient is ambient".

Re: What Is Ambient: due to staying at the house of friends of the organisers, we were obliged to stick around in the venue until the night ended at 9am the next morning. It was really beyond endurance. I remember being drunk lying on the floor next to the DJ booth just going out of my mind.

Relic from the past #2: Booklet from the "What Is Ambient" festival which took place in Munich in March '95. IIRC my live set (as Kinesthesia) was broadcast live on Bavarian radio, does anyone have a recording? It would be amazing if so.

Relic from the past #1: a flyer for two gigs which IIRC never actually went ahead, featuring my early artist name "Kinesthesia". They would have been in December 1994. Promotion for "Trance Europe Express", a series of compilations of electronic music that came out in the mid nineties.

Help, I gathered together my recent demos plus some newly rediscovered uncompleted pieces from the last twelve years and now I have 65 tracks to finish off 😱
