Incredibly glad you're now hopping on peak fiction

The Game Awards already has a problem with the fact that the games awarded are overcentralized to the same 5 genres. At least including sports/racing has these games show up at all, because how do you balance awarding aspects of game design, while taking into account the breadth of all game types.

There are tons of well-made, interesting games from genres and styles that don't have combat, or boss battles, or puzzles, or level design, or worldbuilding. I'm not entirely sure if we should plug one of the game award's gaping holes by essentially splitting its other one open with a crowbar.

This also brings up another question. How many games would be inherently excluded by categories like these.

"Most Innovative Mechanic" is generalized and works fine, but proposed ideas like "Best Level Design, Combat, Puzzles, etc) inherently excludes tons of games without these mechanics.

Best/Most Innovative Mechanic could work quite well but I can't really think of any other game specific categories that won't just funnel the most award worthy games into a handful of genres, which is an issue this show already has.

Incredibly funny how that is the reason to give attention to the awards in the show cus based on the way the Future Class was treated, it clearly isn't for appreciation of games as a medium and the people that make it.

If metroid is so good then why did it get only one good game in 18 years
