Stampede typically results in an increase in calls to
@alphahouseyyc.bsky.social 's H.E.L.P. team (formerly DOAP). Help them out by knowing when to call - and when not to.

Medical distress, someone unresponsive, suspected overdose, physical injury, crime in progress? Call 911.

There are always consequences to Council decisions.

Today, with one vote, 7 Councillors voted down policy amendments that would have enabled more than 650 homes to be built.

650 homes for 650 families today.

And countless more in the future.

The City encourages riders to follow the Traveling in Winter guide. When snow detours are deactivated, information will go out through the media, calgarytransit.com, X/Twitter (where you at @calgarytransit.bsky.social ?) and the Transit App.

At 8pm tonight, Calgary Transit is implementing snow detours for specific routes to avoid stuck buses in hilly areas.
Orange signs along most familiar detoured routes help indicate closed stops.
The full list of detours is available here:

The Community Safety Investment Framework is not a flex spending account for the Calgary Police Commission. The decision to use CSIF funds to pay for a firearms range is unacceptable.

This motion will protect community funding beyond 2025 & solve this problem for our partners.

On Transgender Day of Remembrance, we remember and honour transgender people who have lost their lives from transphobic violence and discrimination. Hate has no place in our communities.

As City services are stretched further - with dollars not going as far, and being drawn on by a growing population - we are seeing satisfaction with City services decline.

Calgary also performs very well when comparing our property taxes to other municipalities.
November 20, 2024 at 5:11 PM
Calgary's property taxes have increased at a slower rate than other major Canadian cities.

Calgary's population is growing, meaning that existing funding for infrastructure and services is being used by more Calgarians.

Inflation also impacts cities: our dollars don't go as far in purchasing the raw materials and services we need to build and maintain our city.
