Watchman FLX versus Watchman 2.5 for left atrial appendage closure: a propensity score-matched analysis - PubMed
In a large dual-centre cohort of consecutive, successful LAAC procedures using two iterations of the Watchman device, the Watchman FLX was associated with significantly lower rates of both DRT and PDL compared to the Watchman 2.5.

In young patients, TBAD predominantly occurs in the context of HTAD. Both open and endovascular repair are associated with excellent early outcomes and mid-term survival. However, HTAD remains a significant predictor of recurrent aortic interventions.

Functional and biochemical biomarkers of cardiac graft quality measured during normothermic ex situ heart perfusion in a porcine model of donation after circulatory death - PubMed
Donation after circulatory death (DCD) provides excellent patient outcomes in heart transplantation and substantially increases graft availability. The lack of validated biomarkers for graft function constrains reliable graft assessment and highlights the need for more effective assessment strategie …

Sex-specific cardiac ageing and sympathetic compensation: a translational study - PubMed
Age-related cardiac changes affect both women and men in similar ways, but are more pronounced in women-likely reflecting a greater decline in sex hormones. This is associated with more prominent compensatory mechanisms to offset their disadvantage of having a smaller heart. Animal and tissue models …

Electrodiffusion in cardiac intercalated disc nanostructures alters cell-cell action potential transmission via ephaptic coupling: A model study - PubMed
Ephaptic coupling modulates and assists cardiac action potential (AP) propagation in conjunction with gap junctional coupling. Ephaptic interactions rely on negative extracellular potentials within narrow intercellular clefts in intercalated discs (IDs) which influence the Na+ current in …
