Ever-adventuring comms & copywriter sort with a soft spot for bikes, beats & Bite-Back. Cat whisperer, unrepentant Toblerone addict & former country collector. Not a cyclist, just a normal person in normal clothes who happens to use a bike to get about.
A deliciously synthtastic night of 80s-esque nostalgia & joyous melancholia, Nation of Language style.✨

Cycling really does give you wings! Watching a toddler soar up front whilst a retired tandem duo found their turbo mode was a definite ride highlight. Magical to see bikes bring out the joy in everyone, at every age, on this fun Kingston ride. @londoncycling.bsky.social @kingstoncycling.bsky.social

Will Norman tonight on how London Cycling Campaign's Share The Joy fund helps communities: "The people using London's cycle networks still don't represent the city. We have to ensure the benefits are felt by everyone in our city to enable everyone from every background to feel cycling is for them."

Lost in a forest? What's the cure. Human Forest bike spotted trying to blend into Richmond Park yesterday...

Fun to finally get to test out Hammersmith Bridge's new cycle and pedestrian lanes as I biked to Beck for a sonically beautiful show at the Albert Hall tonight. 🚲💚🕺

Has any cyclist travelling on SWR trains EVER worked out how these ridiculous not-quite-velcro pseudo-straps actually work? Barely stretch to the second bike & definitely never stick together long enough to hold either... 😤

Just 5 minutes in Dordrecht was more than enough to disprove the popular British myth that over 60 is too old to cycle. In fact, the 30-60 age group in the Netherlands ride the least, and Dutch women generally use a bike more than men. 💪🚲👵

These photos, taken yesterday, seems a pretty accurate representation of the respect given to cycle lanes across Kingston at the moment, which seem more regularly blocked than I remember. [FYI @kingstoncycling.bsky.social]

The joy of adding a dead tree* to garden table & sofa on the ever-growing list of things I've taken to the dump on my festival trolley during one of Kingston Council's 45min pedestrian / cyclist weekend windows...

They definitely just rediscovered where they keep the red paint!

Well done to everyone who braved the cold on tonight's protest ride to demand safer cycle ways across London. 💪🏽👏🏽

Is this some kind of record?! Obviously glad that particular Norbiton fly-tipping is no longer there four months on, but definitely a little short of Kingston Council's "aim to clear it within 24 hours once reported"...

Surprised to find the young driver of this car tucking into a big takeaway bowl of noodles as I cycled alongside him. But not as surprised as when he told me parking in the busy Kingston bike lane on a double yellow & forcing kids on bikes to swerve around him was perfectly legit coz he was hungry.

Looks like they've just got round to closing Coombe Lane West to fix it...
January 11, 2025 at 7:10 PM
This line by a disgruntled Kingston driver ranting against cyclists on Facebook says so much. They didn't notice or remember an incident a person on a bike found so dangerous they reported it to the police (who agreed & took rare action) so it MUST be fake news, right? No other possible explanation.

Hands up if you had Christmas trees joining the bike lane backlash on your bingo card...
January 1, 2025 at 12:47 PM
When you park your bike in Kingston town centre, use a plastic bag as a seat cover & the camouflage is so effective the bin men decide it's rubbish...

Prodigy Brixton part 3 - no better way to end the year than on a hat-trick Prodigy high. Absolute dynamite. 🔥

If you're heading into Kingston tomorrow, look out for the Full Cycle elves & their practical Christmas presents (kids / adult bikes & gift vouchers)! All proceeds go towards their community projects and charity partnerships, to help more people across the borough have access to affordable cycling.

Hey @glovewatch.bsky.social, spotted this lost and lonely glove waving for help outside the corner shop at the junction of Hawks and Bonner Hill Roads in Norbiton earlier. #glovewatch

Stuck for Xmas gifts? Full Cycle's vouchers are a community-spirited way to inspire a greener Christmas & more active new year! Valid for their 2nd-hand bikes, maintenance classes, servicing & cycling accessories, all profits support their active travel initiatives with charities across Kingston.

Anyone know how far from their premises companies can display an A-Frame in Kingston town centre? Given how into health & fitness you'd assume the UBX Gym folk on Brook Street are, it's annoying how far this one's spread into the area for pedestrians & cyclists. [FYI @kingstoncycling.bsky.social]
